Welcome to the "Beta" Release of RB2 Screen Tools. There are 3 applications in this toolkit. I. The first and most important in the RB2 Screen Capture. You should run this application before starting Red Baron. An icon will appear on the task bar to show that the program is running in the background. To save a screen shot during play press the Print Screen key. Right now the capture rate is about one per second so hitting the Print Screen key more then that won't help. To shutdown the program, right click on the task bar icon. NOTE: Due to some "fix" during the lasted updates some people are having trouble with the colors for the saved image. I ran into the same problem but fixed it by going into the DirectX 5.0 control panel, clicking on the Direct Draw tab and checking the Allow Screen Capture box. This worked for me without any other fixes. NEW: To answer many questions, the DirectX control panel is part of the Microsoft DirectX 5.0 SDK. It was reported in a couple of the gaming mags but was never released to the general public per say (some of us managed to get a hold of it on one of the CD-ROMs supplied). To make life easy the Directx.clp file has been made available on this site (you can find it elsewhere). This file is the DirectX 5.0 control panel. To have it show up with the other items under Settings > Control Panel just copy the file to the windows system directory. I would only make changes or play around with other program settings only if you are well versed in all of the DIRECTX parameters or the results to your system may be less then desirable. I, and of course Microsoft, take no responsibility for problems when using this tool. All you need to do to fix your problem is to run the program by double clicking the Directx.cpl file or clicking the icon in the control panel. Next click on the DirectDraw tab, and check the box under Options for Enable PrintScreen Key. This should solve the "NEON" screens. Good Luck with the Screen Shots! II. The second program is a Slide Show (with Red Baron 2 music added in) to display your screen shots. It allows for the selection of any number of shots to be displayed plus a preview window to see your handy work. You can also change the directory were the pictures are stored (adding, deleting, and renaming of files and directories will be in a future release). I plan to make this a screen saver application in the future as well. When the program is running an icon is on the task bar which you can use to open the selection screen or quit the application. If you wish to here music during the slide show, just add your favorite wave file to the application directory with the name "RED.WAV" (I use the waves from RB2 myself). The music going out with the program had to be ditched for size reasons. III. The third program takes one of your screen shots and makes it your windows wallpaper. The screen shot used is random from the ones in your picture directory. If you create a shortcut for the program and place it in the Startup folder your screen will change each time you boot up your system (or click on the icon). It should be noted that all three programs run off of the same INI file and picture directory. You can change the picture directory by using the Slide Show program and picking a new directory (you will need to use Explorer to do this at this time).
