Gyroscope modelling is a must! Rotaries doesn't turn as good in every direction. - Johan Nilsson |

The planes should be able to glide pretty good without engine power. Also there is no fatal speed increase when diving straight down with engine shut off. - Johan Nilsson |
Actually, most of the WWI aircraft did not glide well at all, due to the wires and high-drag elements. " and their wire bracing caused so much drag that they practically fell out of the sky when an engine quit." Jeff Ethell, Wings of the Great War, Air and Space, Oct/Nov 1991 Youre right about the speed increase. We hope to fix this in FM revisions. |

Add another setting for folks to use that's easier then the current Easy setting. - Cage Bring back the original 'Easy' flight model. Throw the 4.4 update version of easy into an 'Intermediate' setting. After the update, easy mode wasn't... Yeah okay, you can say it. I'm a lousy pilot. - Dino |
ON the agenda for the 3D patch. |

The flight model doesn't seem to compute the weight of bombs or rockets embarked. In a dogfight, your manoeuverability is the same as empty, even if you are fully loaded. - Th. Cailleteau |
Youre right. That is in the works, but may not make it into the patch. |

I would like to experience some weather, and actual seasonal changes of the winds. Rain would be incredible. Popping up through the clouds on a rainy day and finding the sun would be a rush. Finding the field again through the clouds and landing in the rain would be a job. The prevailing winds and their strength on a particular day would determine a lot of tactics. A weather briefing could be set up along with the target briefing. Realistic weather could be an option in the realism panel. More than the aircraft have to be realistic if this is going to be a landmark flight and combat sim. - J. lindsey |
Id love to stick realistic weather in, but it isnt likely for a patch. |

Dear Sierra: How about this to end all of the squawking from your FM critics.....why not put some of the FM variables into a user-changable INI file (like you did with the groundfire variables)? If you allow (within a range) modification of plane specs, the historians in the Flight Sim Forum crowd could change these to make them as real and/or fun as possible. We could even begin exchanging and debating each others INI settings instead of flaming Sierra in the forum! If you agree to this idea, my preference would be to have a file like rb2sim.ini with entries like this: [flightmodel] fokker.dvii.enginepower=185 fokker.dvii.stallspeed=55 fokker.dvii.maxclimbrate=845 fokker.dvii.spinstability=100 fokker.dvii.grossweight=1245 spad.xiii.enginepower=235 spad.xiii.stallspeed=90 etc. etc. where the variables make some sense to us in terms of real plane specifications (like enginepower in hp), or provide some explaination (FAQ file) so we can dicker around with these variables. I wouldn't even mind if you put range limits on these variable (for whatever reasons - like game stability, etc.). erhaps you can restrict the use of INI modifications in some way for the Multiplayer game, or set it up to accept one of the players plane options for all participants in a given game room or to go back to the system defaults - just to keep it fair. - Frank Hearl |
This is a fine idea, and one weve discussed, but it would completely unbalance multiplayer games. We may still do it in the future, when we have anti-tamper code for multiplayer, but it isnt in the cards for the patch. |
