Although, I have not had many missions at night I would have liked to see some flares to guide me back to the aerodrome and a bonfire to land by. - Dan Willrett |
Aircraft sometimes fire flares (often escorted flights will signal using them), but there isnt anything of the sort for airbases. Good idea, but probably not in the patch. |
No fix. |
|
Telegraph poles and lines to snag on. - Flybert |
That would be great, but having a realistic number of wires would really be a big art hit, and hose the frame rate. |
No fix |
|
Make bridge surface and ramps solid, would be cool to land on them. - Flybert |
Would be fun, but not a high priority. |
No fix. |

Accesible cockpit graphics- Lets have at least the instrument bitmap names and formats. I've 'patched' the cockpit plaques with a little 'french postcard' image and will be sad to loose it when 3d arrives. Modifying the instrument backgrounds can't hurt multiplayer games like other graphic transparencies could- I hope. - toado |
The textures for the 3D version will work pretty much the same way as on the lockdown. If you managed to hack the regular ones, Im confident youll have no problems. <G> |

Authentic cockpit & gauges for each plane. Not the generic situation that we have now. - Teddy Bear |
Actually, the 3D patch makes it even more critical that we use generic cockpits, since otherwise wed have to build full 3D cockpits for every aircraft. That would not only add many megs to the DL size, but would take about 3-6 extra months of artist time, not to mention testing. |

When you crash the screen spins around, wonder feeling, but then the menu box pops up right in the center of the screen covering your view of your plane. Why not have it in the shape of a button bar, 1 button high and several buttons wide located at the top of the screen out of the way. It could even look like a military merits bar with the game choices printed on each button. - rabu |
We may make some changes to that menu, and if so, your suggestion makes sense. Well just have to see |

Hinge (fold) points on wings, tail, and some rudders do not line up with painted representation of said folds and opennings from external views..please move painted graphics and/or "physical" hinge points to match each other and "realism". - Flybert |
There isnt going to be any significant reworking of the aircraft textures. This would take too long and make for a huge patch. |
No fix. |

Animated machine gun pins hammering away in cockpit view as you fire your guns. In RB1 this was a little thing that added so much to the realism drawing you in to the past, making you feel like you are really there. Suspension of disbelief... This is for real!!! Some times its the little things that make the biggest difference. - Hibben |
I couldnt agree more, but it probably isnt destined for the patch. |
No fix. |

UP VIEW still isn't perfect. This very tight view, with limited angles. Please please make it in RB1 / AOE style. Such WIDE up view very usefull, even it necessary for trak an opponent during turn. New tight view almost not helps :( Ctrl + 8 not helps too because of I haven't time to press double key during hot combat. "E" or "D" key useless too because I need track the enemy and control my plane AT THE SAME TIME. - Vladislav Arhipov |
It isnt likely that the views will be altered any more, but Ill look into it. Personally, I have the "pinky paddle" of my FLCS programmed to toggle between the current scrollable view (F2) and the fixed front view. That way I fly in E or D mode and do periodic "reality checks" to front to verify my orientation to the ground. Ive gotten to the point that its pretty intuitive. |

Cluttered up towns and destroyed towns. Would love to fly around the shelled Cloth Hall at Ypres (cathedral) - Tony Schnurr |
Good idea, but not likely for the patch. |
No fix. |

Trees...to fly over, crash into, generally clutter the place up. A 3Dfx card should be able to handle that, I'm thinking. - Dave Gilbert |
Already done for the 3D patch (see the screenshots). They are sparse, mostly to give scale so you can tell how low you are, but you can crash into them. |

An easy way to take a series of screen shots that could be saved in a directory chosen in preferences or an ini file. - rabu We need to have a screen capture program built into the game. If not a VCR, at least allow us to sharesome of the highlights with our wingmates ! - Bouch |
Already done for the 3D patch. Right now it only makes shots in 3D mode, but it should work in software render as well by the time we finish. |

Please insert follow: standing machines in the aerodrome and people walking around when machines landing and starting. - Mike van Schöll Take some of the little (humans) from the front and incorporate them in the Aerodromes scurryinga bout some grounded aircraft - so I an straff them! Adds interest to the otherwise motionless, seeminlgly lifeless airfields. -Fritz Jerries |
We may be able to add some planes on the ground, etc., it all depends on how other things progress. |

Structural wires visible in the forward view should be visible in the side views as well. Ordnance (rockets) should be visible on the a/c from inside and external views. - Mark |
Well see. It isnt a trivial change, but were discussing it. |

Control surfaces that move when in interal view mode. - Garp |
This will work in the 3D patch (only on 3D cards, though). |
Addressed. |

Please add clouds that you can fly through. - Cage ...C L O U D S...To me, the #1 wish priority. They hid the enemy, they could protect you, if you could reach one in time.. The cat and mouse element was great! Look at the RBII opening video, INCREDIBLE CLOUDS! - rabu Obviously clouds (transparent) - Eddie Delmendo (aka Manchild) Three buttons for cloud effects: the first is 'textured clouds'. These would be the good ones (realistic looking) and would be for those who have computers big enough to take the frame rate hit. The second is 'flat shaded clouds' which would be like the ones from RB1. They can't mess up frame rate that much. The third would be 'no clouds'. - Marco Fabiani |
We will have clouds in 3D mode. Nothing fancy, just 3D shapes with "fuzzy edges" that haze as you enter them. They arent as aesthetically attractive as the ones in the intro, but they work! |
Addressed (still working the kinks out, though.) |
|
Use of extra texture memory of Voodoo 2 12 meg - Eddite Delmendo (aka Manchild) |
Sure will. |
Addressed. |
|
new sun (with lens flare) - Eddie Delmendo (aka Manchild) |
Probably. |

|
improved dawn and dusk graphics - Eddie Delmendo (aka Manchild) |
Not planned. |
No fix. |
|
improved gun fire/explosions/and smoke (transparent) - Eddie Delmendo (aka Manchild) |
Done (some new screenshots showing this will be released shortly). |
Addressed. |
|
mipmapping on plane models - Eddie Delmendo (aka Manchild) |
We do a system where there are several different "detail levels" of aircraft for varying distances. This allows us to construct models that are reasonably recognizable at a variety of distances. Mipmapping, which is an automated algorithm would work, but would tend to lower the "information content" of the models since, unlike the artists who constructed the detail levels, the mipping algorithms dont know what an aircraft should look like. We are using mipping for a lot of textures in the game, but it really doesnt work as well as our current system for aircraft detail. |
Works as designed. |
|
improved lighting effect on plane models - Eddie Delmendo (aka Manchild) |
Itll be in the 3D patch. |
Addressed. |
|
Let us see custom paint schemes from the in-cockpit views, rather than just the external views. Bruce Buckman Seeing the paint scheme from the cockpit would be a nice addition. - Tim Hoffman |
Probably not. Id love to do it, but its an overwhelming piece of work. |
No fix. |
